How Dose of SarNDipity Commemorates a Lifetime of Writing

As I write this third post, I’m gratified that Dose of SarNDipity is live here on Substack.
Since landing on SarNDipity Solutions as the name for my business, I’ve been interested in starting a blog named Dose of SarNDipity. I’ve envisioned it serving as a central location for my knowledge and ideas - a space that PublioSTUDIO™, a marketing firm I work with, would aptly describe as a “Content Hub.”
Over the past 15 years, I’ve launched more than a half-dozen blogs spanning multiple topics and platforms. In my twenties, I created a blog called Mug for Thought highlighting my thoughts on pop culture and early adulthood (Remnants still live on Internet Archive). While working for Marine Money, a maritime industry-focused publisher and conference organizer, I established blogs to track news and press coverage for the company’s Shipping Man and Dynasties of the Sea book titles. Following a 2021 layoff, I posted articles on Medium showcasing my expertise and initiative in learning new skills, an effort which helped me secure my role at PublioSTUDIO, for whom I’ve also written numerous articles. Along the way, I’ve mastered continually evolving best practices in building online visibility and audience engagement - from use of SEO-based strategies and keywords to the incorporation of multimedia and video elements.
Throughout my life, writing has been an avenue for processing my thoughts and sharing my perspective (a skill I often find more challenging in real-time conversations!) It’s served as a means for connecting with both others and myself. I’m continually amazed by how quickly hours pass when I’m tuned in to an article or post I’m crafting - often at the expense of stopping for meal or walk outside (particularly as these days get cooler and darker). After seemingly endless stops and starts, it’s felt incredibly rewarding to bring my ideas together within what I hope will serve as a long-term space for my work.
While expressing my thoughts in writing has long come naturally, organizing my ideas around intuitive themes has often felt more challenging, as has finding the right platform to house my work. I originally envisioned Dose of SarNDipity living on the SarNDipity Solutions website, then eventually I realized I was looking for a platform broader than the scope of my business and its prospective customers. I didn’t want to limit my writing to articles about strategy or productivity. Rather, I craved a space and permission to examine and honor all aspects of my lived experience.
Ultimately, I chose Substack for its built-in distribution engine, engaged reader and writer communities and rich content library to inspire my creativity. While SarNDipity Solutions remains the home for my consulting services and operational frameworks, I’ve moved my long-form writing here to better engage with a broader audience.
After multiple stops and starts, it feels incredibly rewarding to bring my ideas together within what I hope will serve as a long-term space for my work. Now that Dose of SarNDipity is live, I'm thrilled to share it with you. Expect a mix of personal and professional themes, along with the occasional business or product offer.
